Educating and inspiring innovators in Australia and New Zealand

Reimagining how to solve tough problems with AWS technology.

AWS Summit Sydney is the annual flagship event experience for AWS. It is a free, public event that brings the ANZ cloud community together to educate, inspire, connect, collaborate, and learn about AWS.

AWS partnered with Imagination to deliver Summit Sydney in 2024, marking our fourth iteration and largest live event delivery, with content accessible online, for remote participants. However, 2024, wasn't just about delivering another event - it coincided with a spike in Gen AI adoption.

We knew we needed to bring AI and data analytics into the spotlight as well as retaining and delivering the critical elements for developers and technical specialists that AWS Summit attendees have come to expect and rely on.

To support this, the event was structured into two distinct days:

Day One - Builders Day

Focused on empowering developers and the technical audience with the skills to enhance productivity, build differentiated experiences, and innovate faster with AWS.

Day Two - Innovation Day

Explored how organisations of all sizes and industries can utilise technology to reimagine solutions for complex challenges.

The two days offered a total of 116 sessions across a range of presentation formats. These included 56 AWS breakout sessions, 2 Super Sessions, 6 Workshops, 16 Sponsor breakouts, GameDay, Jam, and 32 Lightning talks. Hands-on content workshops included AWS GameDay Challenges, AWS Builder Labs, Workshops and AWS Jam. All in all, the variety and subject matter and session types ensured that regardless of your industry, role or skill set there was a range of engaging experiences to educate and inspire you.

The exhibition floor was the beating heart of the event, which was divided into four vibrant coloured zones, covering over 11,000 square metres of the ICC halls, each anchored by a series of bespoke core demo activations. From the concept to delivery - Imagination and AWS custom built each bespoke demonstration to provide a one of a kind, hands on demonstration of what each game changing technology can do across different industries. From stepping onto a football pitch to having your goal live tracked through spatial analytics, to designing a retail product with generative AI in minutes rather than days, to remotely operating robotics using VR.

AWS Summit Sydney spectacularly met its KPIs and generated extensive global media coverage that significantly elevated AWS' brand on the international stage.
